The Government has announced a prescription charge increase of 20p per item to £7.85 per item in from 1st April 2013, and no it's no joke.
Remember that this charge is a tax collected by pharmacies on behalf of the Government. The pharmacy does not keep any of this payment. So please do not shout at pharmacists about the increase.
90% of prescriptions are supplied free, without the charge. Patients over 60,children under 16, pregnant women, patients with certain conditions like diabetes, hypothyrodism and patients receiving certain benefits are exempt from charges.
Come and speak to our pharmacists to check if you are eligible for free prescriptions.
If you are not exempt then you can obtain an annual or quarterly season ticket and you won't have to pay each time. If you receive 2 or more items per month, then it may be cheaper to have a season ticket.
Again come and speak to our staff for details.
